The problem it fixes

Writers pick devices out of habit.

Which device does your best article use? Without names, nobody can say, and an audit cannot count what works.

How it works

8 categories of named forms.

  1. Choose a category

8 categories: wisdom, rhetorical, story-based, philosophical, literary, dialectical, symbolic and scholarly.

  2. Choose a form

Each category holds named forms, 67 IDs in all, including the khutbah, maqala, qasida and hiwar from Islamic tradition.

  3. Tag the piece

Each piece is tagged by device code, so use can be counted and audited.

  4. Pick before drafting

Still in build: the device is chosen by code before the first draft is written.
